HOW DOES IPL FOR ROSACEA REMOVAL WORK?
The
intense pulsed light emits light waves which are precisely calibrated to target
the haemoglobin in the blood vessels. Light beams pass through the skin and are
absorbed by the haemoglobin resulting in damage to the blood vessel wall.
This
controlled injury to the blood vessels triggers the body’s natural response to
break down and renew the damaged tissue.
It
will reduce any visible redness alongside the intensity and frequency of
‘flushing’ symptoms.
Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LONG IS EACH TREATMENT?
Treatment times are between ten minutes for a small area and up to thirty minutes for larger areas such as face, neck and décolletage.
WILL THE TREATMENT HURT?
We’re a nice bunch here at MAK and the last thing we want is for you to feel any discomfort so we use a Lynton Cryo cooling system to deliver rapid controllable (up to -30°c) skin cooling along side the IPL to reduce any feeling of intense heat and protect the skin.
AM I SUITABLE FOR IPL FOR ROSACEA?
A full assessment will be carried out during consultation alongside a digital skin analysis to assess depth and any rosacea symptoms under the skin that is not presented itself on the surface yet and therefore visible to the naked eye. There will be certain medical conditions that can restrict some or all of the treatment being able to be carried out. Treatment cannot be carried out on recently sun exposed skin (four weeks). A patch test is always carried out prior to any commencement of treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The standard course of IPL for Rosacea is six treatments. In some circumstances IPL is not a cure it will reduce symptoms and maintenance treatments may be required. Skincare products and dietary/ lifestyle advice will also be provided.
