How does IPL / laser hair removal work?

IPL laser hair removal works by firing repeated bursts of intense, wide spectrum light into the skin reaching the hair root (bulb). These bursts of light are converted into heat energy which damages or destroys the root and follicle ensuring the hair falls away and the follicle is unable to produce new hair.

How soon can I see results?

Two weeks after every treatment there will be a visible loss of hair and then after 3 weeks hair will begin to grow with a significant reduction of active follicles, this is repeated as the course continues until the majority of hair is removed and the follicles are inactive.

Is there any down time?

None at all…..you can continue with normal activities straight after each treatment. There is some aftercare to follow which will be explained by your practitioner.

How many treatments will I need?

For any body area treatments a course of six is required and for facial hair courses up to ten.

What areas can be treated?

Pretty much all areas (excluding some particular intimate areas) and scalp cannot be treated.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatment times vary according to target area size, for example a chin treatment will take five minutes and full legs up to 45 minutes.

Am I suitable for laser hair removal?

A full assessment will be carried out prior to any treatment plan being offered.
There may be certain medical conditions that can restrict some or all of the treatment. Although the laser can treat a range of hair and skin types it does perform more effectively on darker hair as this has a higher concentration of melanin.
Treatment cannot be carried out on recently sun exposed skin (4 weeks). A patch test is always performed prior to any courses commencing.
