How laser tattoo removal works

The Q-switched laser tattoo removal generates a high powered beam of laser light which targets the ink of the tattoo. This is a clinically proven laser which uses various laser wavelengths to target different ink colours.
High intensity light beams create a photo acoustic shock wave that breaks up the ink particles and the body’s lymphatic system disposes these ink fragments.

Q switch laser tattoo removal can also be used to reduce or remove semi permanent make up, a full consultation is required.

How long is each treatment?

Treatment length completely  depends on the size of the tattoo, very small tattoos ( 2-5cm) will take five minutes and very large up to 30 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

Tattoo removal can be used to reduce (semi- removal) or remove completely.
If you are wanting to have a cover up (2nd tattoo done OVER the original) then frequently the tattoo artist will request you to have a partial removal (four to five treatments), to remove a good portion of the ink articles so that the outcome of the ‘cover up’ is more effective.
Full removal of a standard tattoo is eight to ten treatments.

Will the treatment hurt?

We’re a nice bunch here at MAK and the last thing we want is for you to feel any discomfort so we use a Lynton cryo cooling system to deliver rapid controllable (up to -30°c) skin cooling alongside the tattoo laser to reduce any feeling of intense heat and protect the skin.
