Sometimes called spider veins or thread veins these small, unsightly superficial veins are usually found in clusters on any part of the legs but are particularly frequent behind the knees and around the ankles.
A combination therapy treatment of Sclerotherapy and AFT Pulsed Light Technology is usually the best approach with superficial veins.

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that involves tackling some of the deeper veins apparent as blue or purple in colour. It involves inserting a sclerosant substance directly into the vein using very precise small injections to clot the blood in the vein then enforcing it to collapse completely and therefore disappear visually on the skin.

How does AFT pulsed light work?

AFT Pulsed Light technology is a procedure used on smaller red thread like superficial veins. The light is flashed over the veins precisely and passes through the upper layers of the skin effectively and is absorbed by the blood in the vein then converted into heat.

The heat coagulates the blood and the vessel walls collapse. The vein is re-absorbed by the body reducing its appearance on the surface of the skin.Leg veins never present the same on any two individuals so treatment plans are done in a bespoke way.

It is expected an average of 60% improvement in the veins but factors such as age, lifestyle habits and medical conditions can influence results.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed is dependent upon the type and amount of veins needing treating, but is usually around 3-6.

Is the treatment painful?

No. Whilst pain tolerance is an individual matter, the majority of patients endure the treatment really well, and describe a sensation similar to a small pinch.

How long until I see the results?

Some patients see a result immediately following treatment, although for others it can take a little longer. The full course recommended by the practitioner is always advised in order to achieve maximum results.
